Rural Municipality Chairperson Arrested for Beating

BAITADI: MAY. 9 – Lokendra Rana, a CPN (Maoist Center) candidate for chairperson in Dilashaini Rural Municipality, was arrested on a charge of beating.

Rana and Maoist cadres have been arrested on a charge of beating Ram Dutta Joshi, an associate professor from Dilasheni-5 who works at Purchaundi Multipurpose Campus, according to police spokesperson Inspector Lokraj Joshi.

Rana is accused of beating as he was campaigning for an independent candidate. Joshi suffered a knee injury as a result of the beating and is being treated at Gokuleshwor Hospital.

According to the District Police Office, a discussion is taking place at Gokuleshwor Police Post between chairperson candidate Rana and the injured.
