KATHMANDU: MAY. 9 – The government intends to close the international border with China and India beginning Tuesday night.
The border will be closed for 72 hours during the local level election.
According to the Election Commission’s decision, border district administration offices have been instructed to close the border from midnight on Tuesday until midnight on the day of polling.
Nepal shares a border with India of approximately 1,880 kilometres and a border with China of approximately 1,414 kilometers. There are 42 districts that are linked to China and India.
The party’s spokesperson, Phanindra Mani Pokharel, stated that the local administration and security agencies have been instructed to strictly adhere to the code of conduct, which prohibits any election-related activities during the pre-poll silence period.
