The election atmosphere in Kathmandu's Gokarneshwor Municipality has also heated up the urban area.
KATHMANDU: MAY. 7 – Political parties are busy with their election campaigns as election day approaches. From door-to-door campaigns to social media, political parties are busy soliciting votes from voters.
The local elections this year, which are being held simultaneously in all 753 local bodies, are heating up everywhere.
The election atmosphere in Kathmandu’s Gokarneshwor Municipality has also heated up the urban area. To attract voters, all political parties and independent candidates are now visiting in front of the voters with various programs.
In this regard, the CPN-UML has scheduled a municipal election rally for today in the municipal area. UML has called a rally from Bouddha Pipalbot bordering Kathmandu Metropolitan City to Sundarijal.
The rally was attended by CPN-UML central member and federal MP Krishna Rai, mayoral candidate Uddhav Bista, deputy mayoral candidate Sannani Lama, Bagmati MP Rameshwor Phuyal, and activists including ward chairperson and member candidates in the municipality.
This municipality encompasses the majority of the territory of the Federal Constituency, Kathmandu Constituency No. 3.
Despite the UML’s strength in the federal constituency, the Nepali Congress won a large number of seats in the most recent local elections.
However, the political equation is slightly different. Political analysts believe that the UML, which is a coalition of the Unified Socialists and the CPN-Maoist Center, will struggle to achieve the expected success in this municipality.
