Election-focused strategic security plan

KATHMANDU: MAY. 4 – The District Administration Office Bhaktapur is preparing a security plan for the upcoming local level election, and 1,500 security personnel will be mobilized.
Chief District Officer Rudra Devi Sharma stated that Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force, and temporary police would be deployed to secure all polling stations and polling booths in the district’s four municipalities.
He stated that the Nepal Army’s security team would be mobilized as needed and that a security mechanism would be put in place so that the security team could be mobilized immediately in case was any wrongdoing at the polling station.
He stated that one polling officer, one assistant polling officer, and two other staff members would be assigned to each polling station and that 3% of the staff would be kept in reserve to deploy additional personnel if necessary.
Sharma stated that all staff to be deployed at polling stations will be trained on May 5 and 6, after which they will be deployed with the materials.
There are a total of 77 polling stations and 219 polling booths in the district. Bhaktapur Municipality has 57,270 voters, Suryabinayak Municipality has 47,367 voters, Madhyapurthimi Municipality has 41,842 voters, and Changunarayan Municipality has 43,105 voters.
