SURKHET: MAY. 3 – The Surkhet district alliance has broken down in Chingad Rural Municipality. The alliance between the Nepali Congress and the CPN-Maoist has broken down.
The alliance has broken down after the CPN-Maoist Central Chingad Village Committee refused to vote for the Nepali Congress in the May 13 local elections.
The Maoists have declared that the alliance has been broken, claiming that the Nepali Congress has betrayed them. On Tuesday, CPN-Maoist Center Chingad Chairperson Samar Bahadur Kami and Secretary Mahesh GC issued a joint statement stating that the party was opposed to the state agreement.
In the statement, it was mentioned that the chairperson and vice-chairperson of Chingad Rural Municipality will be given to the Nepali Congress and the three wards will be contested in an alliance led by the CPN (Maoist Center).
Despite the fact that the Maoist center fully complied with this decision, it is mentioned in the statement that Congress violated it.
Similarly, Dor Prasad Sharma of the Nepali Congress and Bodh Bikram GC of the UML have emerged as candidates for the post of Chingad chairperson.
