KATHMANDU: MAY. 2 – The Election Commission (EC) has asked Keshav Sthapit, the mayoral candidate of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, for a 24-hour explanation.

Information Officer of the Commission, Surya Prasad Aryal, said that the commission has been asked to give an explanation within 24 hours as to what happened as complaints have been lodged with the commission regarding some of the words expressed by Sthapit.

The commission has sought clarification after receiving a complaint regarding the statement made by Sthapit targeting the questioner in the question regarding sexual abuse.

In a program held at a college in Kathmandu on April 28, the question was asked about the abuse. In response, he told the questioner, “You are a nice lady, but the mouth is not good.”

The commission has asked the establishment for clarification on the issue.

According to the commission, the statement “Did you say that or not?” A letter has been sent to the Sthapit to clarify the question of whether it was against the code of conduct or not.
