Adverse weather affects flights at TIA
Adverse weather caused problems in flight in various airports.
KATHMANDU: APRIL. 30 – Flights at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) have been affected today due to bad weather.
Bad weather weakened the visibility, making it difficult for the aircrafts to land flights at TIA. Flights were slightly affected in other airports besides TIA.
Flights were hugely affected in the eastern part of the country due to heavy rainfall. According to Buddha Air’s information officer Dipendra Kumar Karna, Buddha Air’s Tumlingtar flight has been cancelled while Biratnagar Airport is recently open for flights.
Yeti Airlines’ spokesperson Sudarshan Bartaula shared that flights were affected in various airports across the country including Kathmandu. “Adverse weather caused problems in flight in various airports but now it is getting better. There were only IFR flights during the rainfall,” he said.
According to him, none of Yeti Airlines’ flights were cancelled but many flights were diverted. A total of 11 helicopter companies and 20 airlines have been operating flights from TIA.
According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the westerly low-pressure system in the country, the low-pressure system prevailing from Uttar Pradesh to West Bengal in India and the influence of local air have jointly impacted the weather in Nepal resulting in light precipitation today.
The Division forecasted that the weather will be cloudy and rainy for few more days.
