Hearing on Governor Adhikari’s case today
The case was scheduled to be heard on April 26
KATHMANDU: APRIL. 29 – Today, the Supreme Court will hear a writ petition filed by Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari. The hearing did not end on Thursday.
The case was scheduled to be heard on April 26 by a joint bench of Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla and Tanka Bahadur Moktan, but it was moved to Thursday due to a lack of time. However, as it was not fulfilled even on Thursday, it has been postponed until today.
On April 17, Governor Adhikari filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court seeking an order quashing the decision, claiming that a committee was formed to investigate him without providing any information or explanation.
Previously, on April 19, a single bench of Justice Hari Prasad Phuyal issued a short-term interim order refusing to implement the government’s decision to form an inquiry committee. A hearing is being held to determine whether or not the order should be extended.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers on April 8 had decided to form a committee of inquiry to investigate the governor. Officers were automatically suspended following the formation of the inquiry committee.
