Candidature can be withdrawn till 5 o’clock, final list publication at 6 o’clock

KATHMANDU: APRIL. 29 – The Election Commission has stated that candidates may withdraw their candidacy until 5 p.m. today. The commission’s election schedule states that the nominations must be returned from 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Today, at 6 p.m., the final list of candidates will be released. There is a schedule to provide an election symbol to the candidate tomorrow.

One lakh 53 thousand 145 candidates have been registered for the local elections. According to the latest statistics of the Election Commission, 3,518 nominations have been registered for the post of Chief and 2,174 for the post of Deputy Chief.

There are 3,392 nominations for chairperson, 2,407 for vice-chairperson, 35,380 for ward chairperson, 26,556 for women members, 23,951 for Dalit women members and 55,767 for members.

The election symbol is expected to be provided by the Commission on April 30.
