Sports Minister Gahatraj urges for National Games preparations

KASKI: APRIL. 28 – Minister for Youth and Sports, Maheshwor Jung Gahatraj, has said the Ninth National Games scheduled to be held in the Gandaki State on June 5-11 would be organised on the slated date. He urged for grand preparations for the national sports meet.

In his address to an interaction organized by the Ministry in Pokhara today view of the Games preparations, the Minister assured that the event would be organized on time.

He urged one and all not to doubt a successful completion of the event despite a limited time for the preparations.

According to him, Pokhara has all the required infrastructures for organising 36 games except shooting and swimming under the mega event.

National Sports Council member secretary Tankalal Ghishing said players, coaches and sports office-bearers were eagerly waiting for arrival in Pokhara in course of the competition.

A total of 11 teams: seven from provinces, three departmental teams and one from the Non-Resident Nepali Association have been confirmed to participate in the national sports meet.

Secretary at the Ministry, Dr Damodar Regmi said Pokhara would be getting the opportunity to host the mega event after 39 years, urging all the people concerned to gear up for its grand preparations.

He was of the view that additional contributions from the Province and local governments would help for a successful conclusion of the event.
