Economic growth rate for current Fiscal Year will be 5.84 percent

KATHMANDU: APRIL. 28 – The Central Statistics Office has projected an economic growth rate of 5.84 percent for the current fiscal year.

The department projected that Nepal’s economic growth rate will be higher than last fiscal year based on data for the first six months of the current fiscal year, according to a press conference on the National Accounts Statistics of the Fiscal Year 2078/79 held in Kathmandu on Thursday.

Economic growth in the previous fiscal year was 3.83 percent. According to Dr. Ram Kumar Phuyal, a member of the National Planning Commission, the size of Nepal’s economy is now Rs. 41.05 billion 54o million based on base prices and Rs. 48.51 billion 620 million based on consumer prices.

According to him, the per capita GDP for the current fiscal year is 1 thousand 372 US dollars and the per capita national income is 1 thousand 381 US dollars. For the current fiscal year, imports are expected to be Rs 1.8 trillion and exports Rs 320 billion, he said.

Agriculture, forestry and fisheries accounted for the highest contribution of 23.95 percent and wholesale and retail trade accounted for 16.40 percent and 8.79 percent of the real estate sector, respectively.
