KATHMANDU: APRIL. 28 – Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is also the Prime Minister, has stated that anti-democratic tendencies should be defeated through elections. Deuba stated this in a circular issued on Thursday.

He pointed out that a five-party alliance is indispensable for this. “The greatest need today is to defeat the anti-constitutional and anti-democratic tendencies through elections and strengthen the pillars of democracy up to the local level by electing candidates from the democratic and transformational parties to the local level.”

He has also directed that the rebellious leaders/activists who have registered their candidacies withdraw their candidacies.
