KATHMANDU: APRIL. 28 – Budhanilkantha Municipality in Kathmandu has 308 registered candidates.

There are candidates for various posts in the local level election to be held on May 13 in Budhanilkantha, which is located in the northern part of the Kathmandu district.

There are 15 candidates for mayor and 6 candidates for deputy mayor, according to Budhanilkantha Municipality Election Officer Chamila Bhattarai. There are 71 candidates for ward chairperson, 54 candidates for women ward members, 48 candidates for Dalit women members, and 114 candidates for open members.

According to Bhattarai, there are 18 candidates in Ward No. 1, 21 in Ward No. 2, 25 in Ward No. 3, 22 in Ward No. 4, 18 in Ward No. 5, 22 in Ward No. 6, 16 in Ward No. 7, there are 22 candidates in Ward No. 8, 24 in Ward No. 9, 26 in Ward No. 10, 26 in Ward No. 11, 27 in Ward No. 12 and 20 in Ward No. 13 of Budhanilkantha, which has 13 wards.

In Budhanilkantha, Binod Chalise and Ramila Wagle have been nominated for the post of mayor by the Nepali Congress, Mitharam Adhikari and Anita Lama from the CPN (UML) and Dambar Prasad Adhikari and Kamala Gautam from the CPN (Maoist Center).

In the local level election held in 2074 BS, Uddhav Kharel of CPN (UML) had won the post of mayor of Budhanilkantha Municipality and Ramadevi Rai of UML had won the post of deputy mayor.
