Central Bank is preparing to launch digital currency: Deputy Governor Mishra

KATHMANDU: APRIL. 27 – Bam Bahadur Mishra, Deputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, stated that the bank is preparing to launch Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). He said this during a program commemorating NRB’s 67th anniversary.
He stated that the world has entered the digital age and that the central bank has begun to use digital currency, and that plans are being made to introduce such currency in Nepal as well.
He also stated that the COVID-19 epidemic had a negative impact on the economy, which was gradually returning to normal. On Baisakh 14, 2013 BS, the Nepal Rastra Bank was established.
