Women’s candidature for post of chief of three municipalities of Myagdi

KATHMANDU: APRIL. 27 – Three women have given their candidacies for the post of municipality chief in the Myagdi district for the upcoming local level election.

According to District Election Officer Bhim Prasad Ghimire, Thamsara Pun has been nominated from the CPN-UML from the post of Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality chairperson, Meena BK from Raghuganga Rural Municipality from the CPN-Maoist Center and Meena Kumari Sharma Sapkota from Beni Municipality from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party.

After resigning from the post of chairperson of Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality, she became the candidate for the post of chairperson again from the UML was the only woman to be elected as the chief of the municipality from the local level election of 2074 BS. The UCPN (M) and RPP have fielded a new candidate for the post.

RPP, which had won the deputy mayor of Beni municipality in the previous election in coordination with UML, has fielded its own candidate for the post of mayor and deputy mayor from its own party election symbol Halo (Plough) this time. Former district chairperson and regional member Ekendra Bahadur Rawal has been nominated for the post of deputy mayor.

Similarly, the UCPN-M has fielded Rim Katuwal, who has resigned from the post of ward chairperson, as its candidate for the post of vice-chairperson of Raghuganga Rural Municipality.
