Mayor Rai of Pakhribas left UML

KATHMANDU: APRIL. 27 – Brish Bahadur Rai, Mayor of Dhankuta’s Pakhribas Municipality, has resigned from the CPN-UML. Mayor Rai announced his resignation from the party in a Facebook status update.

The UML, led by Rai, won only 52 seats in the district in the 2074 BS local elections. This time around, he was running for mayor. Bhim Rai is running for mayor of Pakhribas on behalf of the UML.

“I have announced that I will not be attending the party from today. However, I am sad,” he wrote on Facebook. Mayor Rai has not disclosed the reason for leaving the party.
