KATHMANDU: APRIL. 27 – A total of 150,494 candidates have been nominated for various posts in the local body elections. There are 3,466 candidates for chief, 3,378 candidates for chairperson, 2,136 candidates for deputy chief, and 2,392 candidates for vice-chairperson.

34 thousand 943 candidates have been registered for the post of ward chairperson, 26 thousand 63 for women members, 23 thousand 470 for Dalit women members and 54 thousand 646 for ward members. The CPN (UML) has fielded the highest number of candidates for the posts of Chief, Chairperson, Deputy Chief, Vice-Chairperson and Ward Chairperson.

Towards Chief posts at the local level

As per the details verified till Tuesday night, 3,666 candidates have been fielded for the Chief post. 1,376 people have given independent candidature. Similarly, the CPN-UML has fielded 288 candidates for the local level post while the Nepali Congress has fielded 263 candidates for the post. Similarly, Rastriya Prajatantra Party has fielded 248 candidates for the same post while other parties have fielded 1,291 candidates, according to the Election Commission.

Towards the post of Deputy Chief at the local level

The candidatures of 2136 candidates for the post of local level Deputy Chief have been verified till late Tuesday night. Of them, 395 have given independent candidature. Similarly, UML has fielded 283 candidates. According to the commission, 227 candidates have filed nominations from RPP, 210 from Congress and 1,021 from other parties.

Towards the post of local level Chairperson

The commission has verified the candidacies of 3378 candidates for the post of local level Chairperson till late Tuesday night. Of these, 1,024 are independent candidates. Similarly, 446 candidates have been fielded from UML, 382 from Congress, 291 from CPN-Maoist and 1,235 from other parties, according to the Election Commission.

To the post of local level Vice-Chairperson

The commission has verified the candidatures of 2,392 candidates for the post of local level Vice-Chairperson across the country till late Tuesday night. There are 445 candidates from UML and 361 independent candidates. Similarly, the commission said that 359 candidates were fielded from the Nepali Congress, 314 from the Maoist Center and 913 others.

Towards the post of Ward Chairperson

The details of 39,958 people have been entered in the computer system of the Election Commission till late Tuesday night. Accordingly, the candidatures of 6,470 UML candidates have been verified in the Election Commission. Similarly, 6,079 candidates from Congress, 5,833 from independents, 4,386 from UCPN (Maoist) and 12,190 from other parties have filed nominations for the Ward Chairperson post.

Towards female member posts

There are 26,084 candidates for the post of women members across the country. There are 6,319 candidates from UML, 5,699 from Congress, 4,811 from UCPN-M, 2,089 from RPP and 7,564 from other parties.

Towards Dalit Women Member Posts

There are 23,482 candidates for the post of Dalit women members across the country. Among them, 6,115 candidates have been registered from UML, 5,734 from Congress, 3,836 from UCPN-M, 1,634 from RPP and 6,163 from other parties.

Towards member post

The commission has verified the candidatures of 54,702 candidates across the country for the member posts. Among them, 12,680 candidates have been registered from UML. Similarly, 11,948 candidates have been fielded from the Nepali Congress while 8,546 candidates have been fielded from the Maoist Center. Similarly, 4,634 candidates have been fielded from RPP and 16,894 from other parties, according to the Election Commission.
