Candidacy of a woman for the post of Bungal Municipality Chief

KATHMANDU: APRIL. 26 – A woman has registered her candidature for the post of Bungal Municipality Chief of Bajhang in the local level election-2079 BS.

Dhan Devi Kunwar has registered her candidature from the CPN (UML) in Bungal Municipality. UML district committee member Kunwar has stated that her candidature is for building women, a child-friendly and environment-friendly city without injustice, inequality and discrimination. “First of all, I will start building a non-violent home and society, against injustice and oppression, and I will include various plans to make the city environment-friendly,” she stated.

Kunwar further said that her candidacy was for the overall development of the city, especially for the upliftment of backward class women. Kunwar was defeated by Meena Devi Bohara Jagri of Nepali Congress by 771 votes in the last local level election.

CPN (UML) had made it mandatory for women to hold the post of chief or deputy chief in the local level election in the Bajhang district.
