Candidacy in all eight local levels of Banke

KATHMANDU: APRIL. 26 – There are candidates in all the eight local levels of Banke for the upcoming local elections.

Only 18 candidates have filed nominations for the post of chief and 10 for the post of deputy chief for the Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitian in Banke, which has a sub-metropolitian, a municipality, and six rural municipalities. In the Kohalpur municipality, 15 nominations for chief and 10 nominations for deputy chief have been filed. In Khajura Rural Municipality, 9 candidates have applied for the post of chairperson, and 6 candidates have applied for the post of vice-chairperson. There are seven candidates for chairperson and six for vice-chairperson in Duduwa Rural Municipality.

Similarly, four nominations have been registered for the post of chairperson and five for the post of vice-chairperson of Narainapur Rural Municipality. Nine candidates have registered for the post of chairperson and five for the post of vice-chairperson of Baijanath Rural Municipality.

According to the District Election Office, Banke, there are five candidates for the post of chairperson and six for the post of vice-chairperson of Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality. Candidates from Nepali Congress, JSP and CPN (UML), RPP, Janamorcha Nepal and others have also registered their candidacies independently.

There are 11 candidates for the post of ward chairperson and two candidates for the post of ward chairperson. District Election Officer Rama Panta informed that there is a program to protest against the candidature today.
