12,000 nominations in Gandaki for 4,000 posts

POKHARA: APRIL. 26 – Around 4,000 people will be elected in Gandaki, including the chief and deputy chief of the ward.

Gandaki, which has 85 municipalities, will elect 170 chief deputy chiefs and 3795 ward people’s representatives. Furthermore, executive members will be nominated at a later date. There are 759 wards in total. In Gandaki, 3,965 ward members and 3,965 people’s representatives will be elected, including 170 chief deputy chiefs.

Gandaki has one metropolitian, 26 municipalities and 58 rural municipalities. Of the 26 municipalities and one metropolitan area, 237 nominees have been registered for the post of city chief and 163 for deputy mayor. According to the Election Commission, 285 candidates have been registered for the post of chairperson and 225 for the post of vice-chairperson.

There have been 2,816 applications for the post of ward chairperson. There are a total of 2,067 female members and 1,918 Dalit female members.

4,603 people have been nominated for the two open seats. The commission reports that 12,314 candidates have registered for the elections.
