56 candidates for mayor of Kathmandu, how many for deputy mayor? (with list)
KATHMANDU: APRIL. 26 – There are 56 candidates for mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City. According to the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, 21 candidates have filed nominations on behalf of the parties while 35 have registered their nominations as independent candidates.
There are 8 women candidates for mayor. According to Kathmandu District Chief Electoral Officer Raju Kumar Khatiwada, 12 out of 31 candidates for the post of deputy mayor have registered their nominations on behalf of the party and 19 as independent candidates. According to him, 12 of the candidates are women.
A total of 1,262 candidates have registered nomination papers in all the municipalities of the Kathmandu district. Of them, 125 have registered for the post of chief and 57 for the post of deputy chief, 334 for ward chairperson, 191 for women members, 129 for Dalit women members and 426 for members.
