16 ward chairpersons unopposed in Gandaki

POKHARA: APRIL. 26 – Sixteen ward chairpersons, including a Municipality vice-chairperson, have been elected unopposed from Gandaki. The ward chairperson and members, including the vice-chairperson of a rural municipality, have been elected unopposed.

Jyapale Gurung from UML was elected vice-chairman of Narpa Bhumi Rural Municipality of Manang. Though UML sent him to be the chairperson, he was unopposed as the vice-chairperson on the basis of consensus.

Three ward chairpersons from the Nepali Congress were elected in Narpa Bhumi, three ward chairpersons from the Congress in Nason Rural Municipality, one ward chairperson from Chame Rural Municipality and one from UML, and two ward chairpersons from Manang Nesyang Rural Municipality.

Similarly, in Mustang’s Lo-Ghekar Damodarkunda Rural Municipality, three UML ward chairpersons were elected unopposed, as were two in Gharpajhong Rural Municipality.

In most of the Himalayan wards, the ward members are also unopposed. Attempts are being made to make the chairperson of the municipality unopposed in Narpa Bhumi. There are 759 wards in Gandaki.
