Candidates registered for local level election surpassed 136,000
KATHMANDU: APRIL. 26 – The number of candidates registered for the local level election has surpassed 136,000. The number of candidates registering for the post of the chief, deputy chief, ward chairperson, and members in the country’s 753 municipalities has surpassed 136,000.
According to the most recent information released by the Election Commission, there are 136,269 candidates. As a result, 3261 people have applied for the post of Chief of Municipal Corporation. Similarly, 3,254 people have applied for the position.
There have been 2,003 applications for the position of deputy chief. A total of 2,292 people have applied for the post of vice-chairperson. 32 thousand 59 people have applied for the post of ward chairperson. There are 23,375 candidates for women members. There are 21,115 applications for Dalit women members and 48,910 for member posts.
According to the commission, political parties and independent candidates have registered their nominations in a positive manner. The main election rivalry is between the ruling coalition’s five parties and the main opposition UML.
The list of candidates will be published today in accordance with the local level election program, which will take place on May 13.
It has been decided to check the nomination papers on April 27 and 28 and to decide on the complaints after investigation and to publish the list of the candidates nominated on April 28.
