Intense dissatisfaction in Gokarneshwor Congress

KATHMANDU: APRIL. 26 – The Nepali Congress Gokarneshwor Municipality appears to be dissatisfied. Dissatisfaction has arisen as a result of the district’s arbitrary distribution of tickets to wards, including the mayor and deputy mayor.

Dissidents have resigned from their party posts and registered their candidacies as independents. Following the resignation of Congress central member and former minister Ambika Basnet, the number of resignations in Gokarneshwor has increased, expressing dissatisfaction with the distribution of tickets.

Gokarneshwor Municipality Ward No. 8 unit president Laxman Chaulagain, Ward No. 3 unit president Shyam Bahadur Shrestha, Ward No. 2 unit president Dipendra Lama, Former unit president Prem Prasad Shrestha, Bagmati State Constituency No. 3 (b) Secretary Jayaram Mahat including Regional Representatives, state representatives and more than 200 active members have announced their resignation without leaving any ordinary members of the party.

Dissatisfied with their resignation, they have filed independent candidacies for mayor, deputy mayor, ward chairperson, and members. Former mayor Shree Krishna Jyoti and regional representative Laxmi Pudasaini have filed independent posts for mayor.

Similarly, Prem Prasad Shrestha, former unit president of ward no. 2, Jayaram Mahat, secretary of state (b) and Laxman Chaulagain, unit president of ward nos. 2, 4 and 8.
