BIRATNAGAR: APRIL. 26 – On behalf of the ruling coalition parties, a rebellious candidacy for the post of deputy chief has been registered in Biratnagar Metropolitan City. Namita Neupane, secretary of the CPN-Maoist Center Biratnagar, has filed her candidacy for deputy mayor.

According to the Office of the Election Officer, Neupane has been nominated for the post of deputy mayor after the ruling coalition parties were told to go to the metropolitian in accordance with the centre’s decision. Neupane stated that she ran as an independent candidate in Biratnagar Metropolitan City after the Nepali Congress presented itself in a biased manner.

Neupane, who had contested for the post of deputy chief from the Maoists in the local level election of 2074 BS despite forming an alliance with the party, could not become a candidate from the party this year due to an alliance between the parties. After the party refused to give her a ticket, she filed for independent deputy mayor.

She got 11,524 votes in the 2074 BS local election. On behalf of the alliance, Congress has fielded Nagesh Koirala as its mayoral candidate while Armendra Yadav of JSP has become its deputy mayoral candidate.
