By noon, more than 16,000 candidates registered their candidacies

KATHMANDU: APRIL. 25 – More than 16,000 people have registered their candidacies for various posts across the country till 12 noon for the local level election to be held on May 13.

From Sunday to Monday at 12 p.m., the Election Commission reported that 16,568 candidates had been registered. The deadline for registering as a candidate has been fixed till 5 p.m. today across the country.

According to the commission, 768 candidates have been fielded for the post of chief, 614 for the post of chairperson, 383 for the post of deputy chief and 334 for the post of vice-chairperson.

Similarly, 4,439 candidates have been fielded for the post of ward chairperson, 2,541 for women members, 2,059 for Dalit women members and 5,430 for member posts.
