Coordination between Congress, Maoists & Unified Socialists in Bhaktapur
KATHMANDU: APRIL. 24 – The ruling coalition parties, the Nepali Congress, the Maoist Center, and the Unified Socialists, will coordinate electoral efforts in Bhaktapur. On Sunday, Congress Bagmati State President Indra Bahadur Baniya, UCPN (M) Chairperson Saral Sahayatri, and Unified Socialist Chairperson Kedar Prasad Neupane reached an agreement.
According to the agreement, the Nepali Congress will get the post of mayor of Bhaktapur Municipality while the deputy mayor has been taken by the Unified Socialists. The Madhyapur Thimi Municipality will also be contested by the Nepali Congress while the UCPN (M) will contest for the post of deputy mayor. Similarly, the mayor and deputy mayor of Suryabinayak municipality will be taken by Congress and the Unified Socialists respectively.
An agreement has yet to be reached in Changunarayan municipality.
