Coordination between Maoists & Unified Socialists in Gokarneshwor Municipality
KATHMANDU: APRIL. 24 – The election in Gaekarneshwor municipality will be coordinated by the ruling coalition parties, the Maoist Center and the Unified Socialists. Following the failure to reach an agreement with the Nepali Congress, the Maoist Center and the Unified Socialists coordinated their electoral efforts.
According to the agreement reached by the two parties, Gopal Baral of the UCPN (Maoist) and Pemachiri Sherpa of the UCPN (Maoist) will run for mayor and deputy mayor, respectively.
Similarly, a consensus has also been reached in the wards within the city, said Bijay Kumar Shrestha, chairperson of ward no. 4. Out of the nine wards in the municipality, the Maoist center will be taken by 6 out of 1, 2, 3, 5, 7 and 9 and the remaining 4, 6 and 8 by the Unified Socialists.
Ward candidates along with Mayor Baral and Deputy Mayor Sherpa will contest on Monday.
