Congress to distribute 5 municipalities & UCPN-M to distribute 2 municipalities in Dhankuta
BIRATNAGAR: APRIL. 23 – The Nepali Congress and the CPN-Maoist have agreed to share the municipality of Dhankuta. There have been talks about getting five Congress chiefs and two Maoist chiefs.
Although the Nepali Congress has decided to distribute five municipalities and the Maoists two, the coalition parties have decided to give deputy chiefs to other parties, according to coalition party leaders.
The Congress Party has agreed to keep Dhankuta, Mahalaxmi, Pakhribas Municipality, Sangurigadhi, and Chhathar Jorpati Rural Municipalities. Similarly, leaders have stated that the Maoists have agreed to keep Shahidbhumi and Chaubise Rural Municipalities.
Even if it is said to be agreed, the parties have yet to sign. According to reports, an agreement has been reached to give the CPN-Unified Socialists a deputy chief. The meeting is still ongoing, and the leaders have stated that they have yet to decide on who will be appointed as deputy chief.
Gyan Bahadur Gurung has been nominated as the candidate for mayor of Pakhribas Municipality by the Nepali Congress. The Nepali Congress has stated that it has decided to field Gyan Bahadur Gurung of Pakhribas Municipality-4 for the local level election to be held on May 13.
