Coalition split in Nepalgunj, maoists decide to contest elections alone

KATHMANDU: APRIL. 23 – The alliance in Nepalgunj has split due to disagreements in the agreement reached by the ruling coalition’s central leadership.

The CPN-Maoist has announced that it will run as an independent candidate in Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan. Stating that they could not agree with the conclusion reached by the central leadership, the Maoist center said that it had decided to contest the election alone.

After the central leadership did not agree with the party’s expectation that the posts of mayor and deputy mayor in Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City would be allotted to their party, the Maoist leaders in Nepalgunj held a press conference and made the decision public.

With the announcement, the Maoist center will now contest the election alone in all 23 wards of Nepalgunj and Nepalgunj.
