Maoists to contest elections in Salyan alone
KATHMANDU: APRIL. 23 – The CPN (Maoist Center) has chosen the mayor and chairperson candidates for Salyan’s seven local levels. The UCPN (M) has chosen seven of the district’s ten local level chief candidates.
As coordination among the ruling coalition has not been finalized, the UCPN (M) has chosen the candidate on its own.
According to Kriti Bahadur Pun, coordinator of Maoist center Salyan, Pramod Kumar Shrestha has been unanimously recommended as the head of Sharada municipality, Karna Bahadur Budhathoki in Bangad Kupinde Municipality, Purushottam Bhattarai in Kalimati Municipality, Prakash Bhandari in Kapurkot Municipality, Rajendra Thapa in Triveni Municipality, Ram Bahadur Budhathoki in Siddha Kumakh Rural Municipality and Neem Bahadur KC in Darma Rural Municipality.
He stated that candidates in Bagchaur Municipality, Kumakh, and Chhatreshwori Rural Municipality have yet to be determined. “We chose the sole candidate following a disagreement with the Congress and the CPN (Unified Socialist) on the issue of coordination,” Pun explained.
