Mayor Renu Dahal’s resignation accepted
CHITWAN: APRIL. 22 – Renu Dahal, the mayor of Bharatpur, resigned today in order to run for re-election.
She handed in her resignation letter to Metropolitan Deputy Chief Parbati Shah. Her resignation has been accepted by the metropolitan secretariat.
The ruling coalition has agreed to give the Maoists the mayorship of Bharatpur and the Congress the deputy mayorship. Dahal resigned on Friday to run as the ruling coalition’s mayoral candidate in the May 13 local elections. The coalition intends to re-elect her as mayor of Bharatpur.
She resigned from the post of mayor after the Election Commission made a provision to resign to become a candidate again. According to the Maoist center in Chitwan, Renu Dahal, the mayoral candidate, will now be busy soliciting votes from the voters.
