WHO Director-General Dr Tedros calls on President Deuba
KATHMANDU: APRIL. 22 – Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), has paid Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba a courtesy call.
During a meeting this morning at the PM’s residence in Baluwatar, Prime Minister Deuba praised Director-General Dr. Ghebreyesus’ leadership role during the COVID-19 epidemic and thanked him for providing significant assistance to Nepal by distributing vaccines at that time.
According to Foreign Ministry Spokesperson and Joint Secretary Service Lamsal, Director-General Dr. Tedros expressed his satisfaction that Nepal had vaccinated many people against the COVID-19. Dr. Tedros added that Nepal’s contribution to the health sector is exemplary and commendable.
Dr. Tedros, who arrived in Nepal on Thursday on a three-day visit at the invitation of Health and Population Minister Birodh Khatiwada, also met President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Friday.
He also met with National Assembly Speaker Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, Health and Population Minister Birodh Khatiwada, and Foreign Minister Narayan Khadka.
