Process to release cadres of Kirant Janabadi Workers Party begins
KATHMANDU: APRIL. 22 – The Ministry of Home Affairs has begun the process of releasing Kirat Janabadi Workers Party leaders and cadres and withdrawing the case.
The party has stated that if the party begins the process of releasing the arrested leaders and cadres and withdrawing the cases against them, it will return to the mainstream of national politics and participate in local elections.
The Ministry’s Spokesperson and Chief of the Peace and Security Division, Phanindra Mani Pokharel, stated that the process for the release of Kirat Janabadi Workers Party leaders and cadres, as well as the return of the case, has begun.
The preliminary talks subcommittee, which was formed to hold talks between the party and forces outside of mainstream politics, met on July 27, 2014.
Following informal talks held at various times on the basis of the same agreement, the government has begun necessary preparations after committing to participate in mainstream politics and in the election if the cases against the leaders and cadres currently imprisoned on various charges are removed.
The party has been conducting its activities in Eastern Nepal.
