KATHMANDU: APRIL. 22 – CPN-UML is scheduled to decide on the candidates for the metropolitan and sub-metropolitan on Saturday.

The decision was made at a meeting of the CPN-UML Central Secretariat on Thursday at the residence of Chairperson KP Sharma Oli in Balkot.

Following the meeting, UML Deputy General Secretary and Chief of Publicity Department Prithvi Subba Gurung stated that the secretariat meeting discussed the recommendations made by all seven provincial committees and that the next meeting would be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday in Balkot. Gurung reported that the meeting decided to commemorate the Communist Party of Nepal’s founding day on Friday and to inaugurate the Tulsilal Memorial Foundation’s central office at Castle Lalitpur today.

The UML Secretariat meeting today decided to make the local election manifesto public. The CPN-UML Secretariat meeting decided not to give tickets to Gandaki and Lumbini State assembly members for municipal leadership.

Gurung, the head of the publicity department, stated that the decision was made with the possibility of a change of government in mind. He stated that the UML would be short of a few MPs in these two states to achieve a single majority, but that a UML government could be formed if the ruling coalition split.
