Coordination between alliances in Taplejung

KATHMANDU: APRIL. 21 – The district’s ruling parties have decided on the distribution of posts for the upcoming local level election.

According to the ruling party’s decision to form an alliance in the local level election, the distribution was finalized on Wednesday after various stages of discussion. The Nepali Congress will lead seven of the nine local levels, including one municipality, and the Maoist center will lead two.

The leadership of Pathibhara, Yangwarak, Sirijangha, Sidingwa, Aathrai Tribeni, Meringden and Mikwakhola Rural Municipality including Phungling Municipality is under the control of the Nepali Congress while the leadership of Maiwakhola and Phaktanglung Rural Municipalities is under the control of the Maoist center. Except for Meringden, Maiwakhola and Phaktanglung Rural Municipalities, the Congress is going to take the post of deputy chief n all other rural municipalities.

The ruling coalition partner CPN-Unified is said to be leading seven wards, including the deputy chief of Meringden, while the Congress will contest for 39 wards and the Maoist center for 15 wards. The parties have stated that the distribution has been finalized in coordination with the local conditions and needs.

After the split, the parties are engaged in an internal exercise to decide their respective candidates. Meanwhile, the CPN (UML) has also finalized the candidates for the five local level chief and deputy chief posts.

It is said that all the ward chairperson candidates except Phaktanglung 7 have been finalized.
