Death toll rises to two at Lalitpur blast

KATHMANDU: APRIL. 21 – Another worker was killed in the explosion at the Sagarmatha Oxygen Plant in Lalitpur. The number of people killed in the explosion has risen to two.

According to police, Rajkumar Mahato, a 25-year-old Indian national who was injured in the blast, died at 1:45 p.m. He breathes his last while undergoing treatment at Patan Hospital, Lagankhel.

Earlier, Brij Mohan Mahato, 45, of Bihar, India, died on the spot. Six others were injured when an oxygen cylinder exploded.

All of the injured are Nepalese. All of the injured have been discharged following treatment, according to SP Siddhi Bikram Shah, spokesperson for the District Police in Lalitpur.

The injured have been identified as Ramesh Adhikari, 43, of residence of Parsa, Durga Puri, 36, of Lalitpur’s Mahalaxmi Municipality-8, Sudip Timalsina, 19, of Godawari Municipality, Ishwar Bajgain, 22, of Mahankal village, Anjana Poudel, 20, of Okhaldhunga and Gangaraj Sharma, 49, of Chandragiri Municipality.
