Director-General of WHO arriving Nepal today, what are the programs?
KATHMANDU: APRIL. 21 – Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), is set to arrive in Nepal today.
On the invitation of Health and Population Minister Birodh Khatiwada, he is scheduled to arrive in Nepal at 12:25 p.m. today.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Director-General will be accompanied by Dr. Poonam Khetrapal Singh, Regional Director, WHO Regional Office for Southeast Asia, and other WHO officials.
He is scheduled to meet with President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, and National Assembly Speaker Ganesh Prasad Timilsina during his three-day visit to Nepal.
He will also meet with Ministers of Health and Population Khatiwada and Foreign Minister Narayan Khadka. Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is scheduled to meet with senior government officials in Nepal, as well as representatives from the WHO in Nepal and the United Nations, while in Nepal.
During his visit, he plans to observe the typhoid vaccination campaign as well as the National Public Health Laboratory.
