Bharatpur’s mayor had to resign: PM Deuba
KATHMANDU: APRIL. 19 – Sher Bahadur Deuba, Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President, has summoned Chitwan District President Rajeshwar Khanal to Kathmandu.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba summoned Khanal to Baluwatar and stated that the Congress could not take over as mayor of Bharatpur due to the alliance’s give-and-take.
While there is no agreement among the coalition parties on the city seat, Deuba has directed the Chitwan president to create a favourable atmosphere in Chitwan by summoning Kathmandu.
Deuba told Khanal, “We had to take Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Biratnagar. We had to give Bharatpur to the Maoists. You were responsible for the district’s atmosphere.”
Khanal had advised Deuba not to leave Bharatpur during the conversation.
