Commission ready to hold clean & fair elections: Thapaliya
KATHMANDU: APRIL. 19 – Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya has said that the Election Commission is prepared to hold a clean and fair election.
Thapaliya, speaking at a media interaction program organized by the Election Commission in Kathmandu on Tuesday, urged people not to be concerned that the election will not be held and stated that the Election Commission is prepared to hold a clean and fair election on the scheduled date.
He stated that election officials’ offices would be set up at all local levels for the election on April 21. According to Thapaliya, two days have been set aside for nominations based on party suggestions, and the campaign period has also been extended. He stated that the commission has made progress by correcting the flaws in the previous local elections.
He stated that it was the responsibility of all parties to implement the commission’s code of conduct and advised them to create their own test and adhere to it.
He also stated that it has been proposed that no liquor be sold or distributed throughout the country during the election silence period.
