‘Respected people are requested not to reduce their stature’
KATHMANDU: APRIL. 19 – Local elections will be held on the scheduled date, according to Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya. The following day, the main opposition CPN-UML concluded that there was a conspiracy to postpone the local body elections, despite the fact that the elections were scheduled for May 13.
On Tuesday, during an interaction with journalists in the capital Chief Election Commissioner Thapaliya said, “Respected people are requested not to belittle the election.”
A meeting of the UML Central Secretariat on Monday concluded that the government was conspiring to postpone the election due to squabbles within the ruling coalition over seat-sharing.
The next day, Thapaliya stated, “We have come to a firm resolve to hold the election on May 13, breaking any doubt as to whether the election will take place or not.”
