KATHMANDU: APRIL. 19 – A writ petition has been filed against Maha Prasad Adhikari, the suspended Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank. The Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing for today on the writ petition filed yesterday.

A writ petition filed by the Adhikari on Sunday was registered on Monday alleging that the suspension along with the formation of the investigation committee was illegal.

The registration process has been completed, according to Supreme Court spokesperson Bimal Poudel, and the case has been scheduled for Tuesday. “The preliminary hearing will be held today,” said Poudel.

Adhikari was suspended from the governor’s office after the government formed an investigation committee on April 8, accusing the governor of leaking confidential information.

Adhikari has requested an interim order to overturn the government’s decision, claiming that the investigation against him was illegal.
