KATHMANDU: APRIL. 15 – The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has requested that rotting and non-rotting garbage be classified separately.

It has been stated that unclassified garbage will be returned to the house and a fine of Rs. 500 per person will be imposed if it is brought to the garbage truck.

According to Sarita Rai, the head of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City environment department, it will be easier to manage garbage, and garbage collection vehicles will arrive on different days, so management must be done accordingly.

Despite the Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s request, the Kathmandu Metropolitan has stated that it will take action in accordance with Section 51 (th) of the Natural Resources Protection Act 2077 and Section 38 (th) of the Garbage Management Act 2068.

Lately, the waste management work of 18 local levels of Kathmandu Valley including Kathmandu Metropolitan has been becoming complicated and garbage was piled up on the road in the valley for 19 days in Falgun (Feb/March) and 12 days in Chaith (March/April) when locals blocked the road leading to the place along with Sisdol in Nuwakot.
