Nepal Army soldiers killed in Congo laid to rest in Bheri (with photos)

SURKHET: APRIL. 13 – The last rites of a Nepali soldier killed in Congo were performed on Wednesday. On April 12, a Nepal Army team brought the deceased body to Nepal, and his last rites were performed on Wednesday at Bheri in Surkhet.

Anil Gurung, a resident of Surkhet’s Gurbhakot Municipality-14, was injured in rebel fire on April 5 while receiving treatment at Buniya Hospital in Buniya.

General Prabhu Ram Sharma, Chief of Army Staff, paid his final respects at the Nepal Army’s Birendra Hospital.

As a final tribute, Chief of Army Staff Sharma covered a Nepal Army flag over the body of the peacekeeper and offered flowers, while Defense Secretary Kiran Raj Sharma laid a wreath.

Similarly, a contingent of the Nepal Army paid its last respects as a tribute on Tuesday in Kathmandu after Nepal Army officers, force chiefs, chariots, officers, medalists, and family members presented flowers on the body.

On the occasion, Chief of Army Staff Sharma presented the families of the deceased with a letter of condolence from Miss Mansu’s Force Commander as well as money provided by the Nepal Army for last rites.

Similarly, the body of late Anil Gurung was brought to Surkhet by a Nepal Army helicopter and handed over to his family after the tribute and final honors program.
