12 UML candidates gave internal candidature to become mayor of Pokhara
POKHARA: APRIL. 12 – Twelve UML candidates have declared their intention to run for mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City in the May 13 local elections. At the Metropolitan Committee meeting, 12 people were nominated for the post of mayor.
Ward Chairperson Lekh Bahadur Tamang (Darshan Lama), Pushpa Jyoti Dhungana, Pushparaj Adhikari, Deepak Poudel, Bal Krishna Kauchha Magar, Savitri Bhandari, Meena Kumari Gurung, Bhim Karki, Rashmi Acharya, Bishwakalyan Parajuli, Krishna Thapa and Rajiv Pahari have been nominated.
Eleven candidates have registered for the post of deputy mayor. Sushma Poudel, Shobha Mohan Poudel, Bamdev Dhungana, Tikaram Pangeni, Tej Narayan Adhikari, Sanjib Bahadur Koirala, Devika Pahari Tripathi, Jeevan Prasad Acharya, Balram Gayak, Harimaya Gurung and Bain Bahadur Chhetri have claimed.
The Pokhara Metropolitan City is currently led by UML. The UML appears to be strong based on the results of the local-level election held in 2074 BS. As a result, they must run for mayor and deputy mayor.
Man Bahadur GC, a UML candidate, was elected in the Pokhara Metropolis in the previous election. By about 14,000 votes, he defeated the late Congress candidate Ramji Kunwar.
