Mayer Cup football with a prize money of Rs 1 lakh 1 thousand

KATHMANDU: APRIL. 12 – The first Mayor’s Cup Running Shield Football Tournament organized by Gokarneshwor Municipality, Youth and Sports Committee with prize money of Rs. 1 lakh 1 thousand.

Sanjay Lama, Youth and Sports Committee Coordinator, officially inaugurated the game today at a function at the Armed Police Force ground in Mulpani, Kageshwori Manohara.

In a game played on a knockout basis, eight teams from Gokarneshwor Municipality have participated.

The first-place team will get a running shield, trophy, medal and certificate with 1 lakh 1 thousand cash and the second-place team will get a trophy, medal and certificate with 51 thousand cash.

In today’s first match, Gokarneshwor Ward No. 1 defeated Ward No. 2 in a tiebreaker 4-3 to advance to the semifinals. After both teams failed to score in the allotted 90 minutes and extra time, the match was decided by a tiebreaker.

The next game today will be at 3 p.m. between Wards 3 and 7.
