Dilli Ram of Jhapa left crying UML!
KATHMANDU: APRIL. 12 – Dilliram Ghimire, the leader of the CPN-UML, has left the party. He left the party in tears after being denied a ticket to run for mayor of Mechinagar Municipality.
He is from Jhapa, the home district of party chairperson KP Sharma Oli. He announced his resignation from the UML, citing the existence of extreme factions within the party.
He responded by crying to reporters in the morning. He then wrote on his official Facebook page: “Dear my supportive friends. This time I could not bear the injustice done to me. I took leave from the entire responsibility of the CPN (UML) from today onwards, considering it more appropriate to live an independent life than to endure injustice again and again by sitting with the leaders of extreme factions who deprive one another of additional responsibilities and opportunities. ‘
Ghimire was also aspiring for mayor in the last local elections. He resigned shortly after the local party committee approved the mayoral election for the following local level election.
He did, however, announce his departure from the UML, claiming that he had broken the previous agreement by forming factions within the party.
Ghimire, a Kakarbhitta resident, is a UML district member and the coordinator of the Jhapa Constituency No. 1 Coordination Committee.
The party has appointed State MP Gopal Chandra Budhathoki for the post of mayor. Other leaders, including Neelkanth Tiwari, were aspiring for mayor.
