Ruling coalition holding meeting to finalize the modalities of electoral coordination
KATHMANDU: APRIL. 12 – The ruling coalition is meeting today to finalize the coordination modalities for the upcoming local elections.
Following the release of a joint statement by the top leaders of the five parties on Saturday urging them to unite against the UML, a meeting will be held today to decide on the outline of coordination.
Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, Minister for Communications, has stated that the meeting will take place at 4 p.m. at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar. According to him, the coordination modalities will be decided today based on the discussions held yesterday and the day before the meeting. He said that it would be practical to decide which party will lead where after the modality is formed.
Stating that the main opposition party will be weakened by the UML without mature and credible coordination, the ruling coalition is now focused on handing over to the lower-level leaders and cadres.
Dissatisfaction has started to grow within the main party of the ruling coalition, the Nepali Congress, after the division of elections in 753 municipalities.
