KABUL: APRIL. 6 – Afghanistan has received a fresh batch of 32 million U.S. dollars in humanitarian cash assistance, the Afghan caretaker government confirmed on Wednesday.

Citing officials of Da Afghanistan Bank, the country’s national bank, the government said in a statement that the 20th package of humanitarian aid of 32 million U.S. dollars reached Afghanistan on Tuesday, and was delivered to the Afghanistan International Bank.

While appreciating the humanitarian assistance from the international community, the statement called for more cooperation of the international community in the field of humanitarian assistance to the Asian country.

More than 22 million Afghans out of some 35 million of the country’s population are facing acute food shortages, and the war-torn country would face humanitarian catastrophe if not assisted, according to aid agencies’ reports.
