KABUL: APRIL. 3 – A total of 7,663 farmers have received improved seeds and fertilizer in Afghanistan’s central Bamiyan province, the Afghan caretaker government said Sunday.

“Officials of the Bamiyan Department of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock in collaboration with Aga Khan, a local charity group, have distributed 383 metric tons of improved seeds to 7,663 eligible farmers along with fertilizer,” the government said in a statement.

The statement said the caretaker government has speeded up its efforts to solve problems facing the farmers across the country and help farmers use advanced technologies in farming.

Earlier in the day, Taliban supreme leader Haibatullah Akhundzada issued a decree, banning the cultivation and trade of opium in Afghanistan.
